(Daytona Beach) Thieves broke into a warehouse utilized by the Florida’s Coast to Coast Chapter over the holidays taking disaster relief supplies and equipment intended for disaster victims. The theft was reported to Daytona Beach Police after it was discovered on December 30, 2009. Among the items stolen were tarps, clean-up bags, clean-up kits, client comfort kits, bleach, work gloves and tools. The items had an estimated value of $5,000.
“The stolen items are utilized by those impacted by disaster as a means to rebuild their lives,” said Dan Roll, Florida’s Coast to Coast Chapter Executive. “What is especially hurtful is that all items were either donated or purchased with donated funds. This really hurts those impacted by disaster and tragedy.”
In addition to the expense of replacing the stolen items, the chapter will now be forced to allocate additional funds for extra security measures.
Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to call Daytona Police at (386) 671-5100.
