(Orlando) The American Red Cross of Central Florida is proud to announce its signature disaster and preparedness fundraising event, the 2010 Valentine’s Rendezvous. The year’s event will take guests to “Paris” and will be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort on Saturday, February 13th from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. The Rendezvous will feature live entertainment, a silent and live auction and complimentary child care services provided by Red Cross certified babysitters.
“This event will make guests fall in love with the Red Cross mission and will highlight the work done in this community every single day by our staff and especially our volunteers,” said CEO Joel Hass. “The Rendezvous helps us continue our life-saving mission and it allows everyone to have a great time while supporting a great cause.”
This year’s goal is to raise awareness about Red Cross services and raise $100,000. All proceeds will benefit Red Cross programs in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
Numerous companies have offered their support. Gold level sponsors include Regions Bank, Orlando Utilities Commission and CXS. Once again, Central Florida News 13 is the media sponsor. Other companies that have also committed their support at silver level sponsorships include Lockheed Martin, Fifth Third Bank, Bright House Networks, Progress Energy, KPMG, United Healthcare, Walt Disney World Resort and Marsh. Numerous other companies and individuals have given donations of time, services and resources.
The 2010 Matthew Davies Courage and Leadership Award will also be announced. Past award honorees include the award’s namesake, Matthew Davies, who selflessly made outstanding contributions to the Orlando community and Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Pierce for his unfailing courage in the line of duty.
