The American Red Cross of Central Florida Chapter First Aid Station Program offers trained volunteers who serve as emergency responders and can provide immediate and temporary care for injuries and sudden illnesses before emergency medical personnel can arrive. First aid stations can be scheduled for community events like parades, festivals, conventions and sporting events, to mention a few.
First aid stations are fixed sites that people visit for basic first aid and initial medical evaluations. Volunteers also roam the event to provide mobile care in bleachers, on stage and in other areas.
Each first aid station team member holds current certifications in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and Adult CPR. Additionally, they are trained in preventing disease transmission, administering oxygen and using an automated external defibrillator. When requested for water related events, Red Cross volunteers holding current certificates in lifeguarding or basic water rescue will also be utilized.
